CONCORD, NH — The city has two parades this year to honor fallen service members.
The first one will take place in Penacook at 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 24.
Put on by the Penacook Village Association, the parade will start at Merrimack Valley High School on Village Street, northbound. Taps will be played during pauses at the Woodlawn Cemetery and in Boudreau Square. The route ends at the Washington Street School.
A second Memorial Day parade, organized by the Concord Veterans Council, will be held in Downtown Concord at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 25.
The parade will start at the Christ the King Parish parking lot on South Main Street at 9 a.m. The route will flow from South Main to North Main to Park Street and back to the city plaza.
At the Statehouse, there will be a brief wreath-laying ceremony.
There is no rain date for the parade.
Granite State Baptist Church is also hosting its free annual pig roast at the church on Sheep Davis Road on Monday afternoon.
