CONCORD, NH — State officials are investigating the death of a woman who was found shot Monday morning in Thornton.
Leah Anderson, 21, was found with a bullet wound to the head on Mad River Road just past 8:15 a.m. on Monday by Thornton and Campton police officers after a 911 call. She was taken to the hospital, where she received treatment, but died later, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.
Michael Garrity, the director of communications for the department, said an autopsy will be performed on Anderson on Wednesday. Additional information will be released as it becomes available while protecting the integrity of the investigation, he said.
According to Plymouth State University, Anderson was an elementary education and youth development major at the school. According to her online profile, she worked for the town of Campton and played basketball for Plymouth Regional High School.
