Concord Firefighters Extinguish Homeless Camp Fire Off Garvins Falls Road

CONCORD, NH — Concord firefighters extinguished another fire at a homeless encampment off Garvins Falls Road on Sunday night.

Around 11:15 p.m., Capital Region Fire Alarm began sending firefighters and requesting police to the area behind the Farmhouse Apartments on Garvins Falls Road to extinguish a fire at a homeless camp. Dispatch also requested police, too, since the caller complained the fires had been “an ongoing issue” in that area of the city.

When firefighters arrived, they did not see any fire and requested a more specific location. Dispatch said it was behind the building in the woods.

Just before 11:30 p.m., the battalion commander radioed dispatch to report a small fire had been contained and extinguished.

Dispatch told the commander police were off with someone on Manchester Street. The man denied involvement in the fire, according to police.

Police ran checks on several campers. One had a warrant out of Massachusetts and was a defendant in three out-of-state protection orders, according to police dispatch.
