CONCORD, NH — A man from Northfield was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison on Monday after being found guilty of aggravated felonious sexual assault charges.
Andrew Glines, 41, was found guilty after a two-day trial in early May on three counts. Originally, he was charged with endangering the welfare of a child or an incompetent, sexual assault, two felonious sexual assault, and two aggravated felonious sexual assault charges in April 2021 after a family member, who was 15 at the time, accused him of sexually assaulting her.
According to court documents, the victim accused Glines of using his authority to sexually assault her. The victim provided text messages to police of threats and described what happened.
Police contacted the Division of Children, Youth, and Families to create a safety plan for the girl. She was interviewed later by the Merrimack County Advocacy Center and stated the abuse occurred about two or three times a week, beginning at the end of the summer of 2020. She also claimed he took pictures and videos of her, but charges were never issued by the police.
Several times, a detective sergeant with the Northfield police attempted to reach Glines.
In March 2021, Glines emailed the detective, called the story “ridiculous,” and offered to speak to the police. After waiting several days for him to follow through with the meeting, he failed to contact the police. The detective also said Glines had abandoned his residence around the same time in February 2021 when the girl came forward to police.
Police could not locate Glines for several weeks and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Glines was arraigned in late April 2021 and was released on bail. He was indicted in June 2021. Glines’ bail was also revoked several times.
The case dragged on for years.
In December 2023, the case appeared to be headed to trial. But Glines filed a motion to dismiss in January 2024, which was rejected. A jury trial was scheduled for later that month, but it was canceled.
More motions to dismiss were filed in 2024 but rejected. Many of the documents in the case were also sealed from the public, according to records.
In April 2024, Glines was indicted again on four counts. Jury trials were scheduled for May and September 2024 but were later canceled.
More jury trials were booked for January and April 2025, as well as January of this year, but were canceled.
The case went to trial on May 11 on seven aggravated felonious sexual assault-pattern sexual assault counts, and after two days, Glines was found guilty on three counts.
On Monday, Glines was sentenced to three 10-to-20-year sentences to be served consecutively. He was also given three years and 262 days of time served credit. One of the sentences was suspended for a minimum of two years or up to 10 years after release.
Officials expect him to serve at least 30 years in prison.
Four counts were nolle prossed.
Two bail-jumping charges against Glines were nolle prossed.
