New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton Invites Community to Aug. 6 Cruise Night

TILTON, NH — The New Hampshire Veterans Home is inviting the public to its annual Cruise Night from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 139 Winter St.

The event will bring together classic cars, live music and a cookout fundraiser at the state veterans facility.

Car enthusiasts of all ages can expect to see classic cars, muscle cars, antique vehicles and other entries. Vehicle registration will run from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. at the NHVH pavilion on the back side of the home, accessible from Colby Road. There is no entry fee and no admission charge, though donations to support the home's Resident Benefit Fund will be accepted.

Entertainment is scheduled to be provided by the Bel Airs.

The event will also include a cookout fundraiser with hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, brownies, cookies, novelty ice cream and soda, according to the announcement. Additional activities are set to include a 50-50 drawing and prizes in categories including Most Likely to Get a Ticket, Most Memorable, Veterans Choice, Best in Show and Owner's Choice.

"This event is all about honoring our veterans and bringing the community together in a fun, meaningful way," Kim MacKay, NHVH Commandant, said. "Everyone's welcome at this family event — whether you're showcasing a car, visiting with a veteran, enjoying the cookout, or just soaking in the good vibes."

The home is also asking individuals and groups to consider volunteering to help veteran residents enjoy the event. Volunteers may help guide residents through the car displays or assist with the cookout. T

The New Hampshire Veterans Home said it is home to 150 men and women and is the state's only long-term care facility dedicated exclusively to veterans. The facility said it was founded in 1890 as the Soldier's Home for Civil War Veterans and provides long-term care services to elderly and disabled veterans.
