CONCORD, NH — Two of the three Concord Board of Education Zone seats are competitive in 2026 with one new member being elected by default.
Incumbent Zone B member Elizabeth Boucher, representing Wards 5, 6, and 7, faces a challenge from former state representative Don Brueggemann. In Zone C, which represents Wards 8, 9, and 10, Brenda Hastings faces a challenge from Aaron Thompson, who ran for the Zone seat last year by write-in.
Jackie Figueira is running unopposed for the Zone A (Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4) seat.
Each candidate gave opening and closing statements and answered questions about the lack of board transparency, budget issues, district quality, the Rundlett Middle School debt, whether the district should take control of Memorial Field, and more.

The school district ballot also asks whether the school board should market and sell the former Dewey Elementary School property at 38 Liberty St., currently the central office.
The general election ballot also includes a question (HB 1300) asking voters whether property taxes should be limited for two years beyond the prior year's amount, adjusted for inflation and new construction, and whether administration cost increases should be capped at 6 percent. Bonded capital projects are excluded from both limits. Any limits can be overridden. Sixty percent of the community must approve of the question to pass.
