My commitment to Concord's schools began long before I joined the School Board.
For the past six years, I have been actively involved in student and parent engagement as a parent, coach, PTO volunteer, and former PTO president. I am also a founding member of CMS Cares and the Family Center Market, a trauma-informed food pantry serving families beyond the CMS community. These experiences as well as my current experiences as a parent have shaped my collaborative approach to school governance and reinforced my belief that strong schools depend on strong relationships among families, educators, and community organizations.
My professional background is in nutrition and public health, and I have brought that perspective to my work on the Board. I am a member of the Capital Area Food Access Coalition in Concord, where I have worked to build connections among city and state partners, School District staff, and community organizations to address food insecurity throughout the capital area. I believe access to nourishing meals is fundamental to student well-being and that our policies should protect students' health and dignity.
Student safety has also been a central focus of my service. Since joining the Board, I have advocated for strengthening the District's Weapons Policy and Suicide Prevention Plan to include secure firearm storage education. I also wrote and submitted the Gun Free School Zone Resolution, which was subsequently passed by the Board. I am proud of this work and will continue supporting clear, thoughtful policies that promote safer school environments and help families access important safety information.
I also serve on the District's Wellness Committee, which recently received the results of a wellness audit. As a dietitian and public health professional, I bring a valuable perspective to these discussions. I will continue working to strengthen the District's Wellness Policy and advance school nutrition practices that support students' health, learning, and overall well-being.
I am advocating for a multi-tiered community engagement plan that creates more consistent, accessible, and meaningful opportunities for families, students, educators, and community organizations to participate in District conversations and decision-making. I would like to see a plan move forward during my second term.
If reelected to represent Zone B, I will continue to bring a collaborative approach, a public health perspective, and a commitment to practical, student-focused Board actions. My priorities are safe schools, healthier students, stronger community partnerships, meaningful community engagement, and accountable governance that respects students, families, educators, and taxpayers.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Concord and look forward to continuing this work with our school community.
