CONCORD, NH — It was another great year for the Concord Farmers Market, and the org will be celebrating its last day of the season with a bang… or, actually, a boo.
Most vendors will be celebrating Halloween a bit early on Saturday by giving away treats to kids and pets.
"Come on over and have a good time," Wayne Hall, a fourth-generation farmer of Rockey Ole Farm, said.
Hall said 2026 was another very good year for farmers, although the growing season was a bit off. About 10 new vendors participated and customers flocked to the market. Everyone, he said, seemed pleased with the selling season.
"It's been amazing to see new faces and all the old faces (too) have come back," Hall said.
Hall said the cost of some products was up a bit this year because of diesel prices and the economy. But the vendors tried to keep things affordable and reasonable, he said. Hall said he had not heard any customer complaints about pricing.
"We're absorbing a lot of the costs," Hall said, "to keep things down for people."
Hall said, unlike the chains, there were not "multiple hands" on the food, pointing to the Cyclospora parasite and other health issues.
"We know we are more expensive than the (grocery) stores," he added. "But, again, what you pay for here is you get to talk to the person who actually produced your food."
The Downtown Winter Concord Farmers Market returns on Nov. 7 at Eagle Square.
