This benefit concert will bring together three accomplished rock guitarists for a night of live music in Derry while raising money for Liberty House, a Manchester-based nonprofit that supports New Hampshire veterans with housing and other services.
DERRY, N.H. — Southern New Hampshire music fans can see three veteran guitarists with New England and arena-rock roots when the Rockin' 4 Vets, Guitar Monsters benefit tour stops at Tupelo Music Hall in Derry this September.
Guitar Monsters, presented by Rockin' 4 Vets, will feature Johnny A., Jon Butcher and Dave Amato on one stage for a series of benefit performances aimed at supporting veterans and community organizations.
The Sept. 25 concert is part of the Guitar Monsters tour, with tickets and VIP meet-and-greet options available online.
The idea is simple and powerful: put three distinctive guitarists on one stage, let their songs, tones and stories collide, and use that energy to raise support for Veterans and community organizations. For fans, Guitar Monsters promises the kind of live musical exchange that cannot be duplicated. For the charities, it turns rock and roll into direct community impact.
The Derry show is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25, at Tupelo Music Hall, a familiar regional venue for music fans from Rockingham and Hillsborough counties. Proceeds from the local performance will benefit Liberty House, a Manchester nonprofit that provides resources and transitional housing for veterans.
Other Guitar Monsters stops include a Sept. 24 show at The Cut in Gloucester, Massachusetts, benefiting The Open Door, and a Sept. 26 show at Infinity Music Hall in Hartford, Connecticut, benefiting the Community Renewal Team.
Butcher and Johnny A. are both closely associated with the Boston-area music scene. Johnny A., a Grammy-nominated artist and a Boston Music Hall of Fame member, is known for blending rock, blues, jazz and soul into his instrumental work. He previously served as musical director and lead guitarist for Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band and later joining touring with the Rock & roll Hall of Fame band The Yardbirds.
Butcher, also a Grammy-nominated artist and New England Music Hall of Fame inductee, built a national following with the Jon Butcher Axis and has performed with acts including Rush, Def Leppard, Scorpions and the J. Geils Band.
Amato brings an arena-rock résumé to the lineup. Best known as longtime lead guitarist for REO Speedwagon, he is currently touring with former Eagle, Don Felder having also worked with Rick Springfield, Cher, Richie Sambora and Ted Nugent.
Organizers said the shows are intended to pair live rock music with direct support for local causes, with the New Hampshire stop focused on veterans' housing and support services close to home.
Tickets for the Derry show are available through Rockin' 4 Vets. The performance will be held at Tupelo Music Hall, 10 A St., just off downtown Derry. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are available online, with VIP meet-and-greet tickets sold separately.
Founded by veteran and longtime music-industry road manager Jim Tirabassi, whose credits include Foghat, Badfinger, Toy Caldwell and The Outlaws, Rockin' 4 Vets uses live concert events to raise money for former service members throughout the Northeast. The organization supports local nonprofits addressing housing insecurity, food needs, addiction recovery and trauma-related care.
