10 New Local Restaurants to Try

Below is a look at the restaurant and food-related stories local Patch sites have covered over the past month. Read through our round-up for the latest food news in your area.

EXETER

A downtown Exeter landmark, the Loaf and Ladle,Β closed its doors this monthΒ and is now being sold.

In Epping, 900 Degrees PizzeriaΒ opened its new Brickyard Square restaurant, and the Beach Plum announced that it will also be openingΒ a new location there next year.

PORTSMOUTH

As usual, it's been a busy month for restaurant news in Portsmouth.

Two longtime Portsmouth fixtures,Β Four restaurant on State StreetΒ andΒ Momma D's, which was located on the Route 1 Bypass in Portsmouth for yearsΒ before moving to Newington, recently closed their doors.Β But as usually happens in Portsmouth, new restaurants popped up to take their places on the local scene.Β 

Tavola, a new Italian restaurant,Β opened on the city's West EndΒ at the former site of The Exchange. And the old Upper Crust location on Congress StreetΒ hasΒ a new tenantΒ in Enrico's Deli.

LoMo, another new restaurant,Β opened in the old Green Monkey locationΒ on Pleasant Street in the past month as well.

A long-awaitedΒ Route 1 burger jointsβ€”Five Guys Burgers and Friesβ€”opened this week.

HAMPTON

Last week, Smuttynose Brewing Co. CEO Peter Egelston revealed during a tour of the company's new Hampton facility that beer could start shipping from the Towle Farm site as soon as January. The brew pub to be located at the site won't open until late spring, however.

A new North Hampton restaurant,Β Heritage Smokehouse, is serving up some comfort food classics.

A new bakery,Β The Wicked Sweet Sugar Boutique,Β recently opened in Hampton as well.

WINDHAM

Sophisticakes of WindhamΒ is not only serving up World Series cupcakes, but it alsoΒ recently started offering a new lunch menuthat includes steamed ballpark franks on World Series game days.

SALEM

Also on the gourmet cupcake front, a new bakery,Β Crumbs Bake Shop, recently opened at the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem.

Fans of Barking Bean Café should be happy to know that several local businesses have pitched in to help save the life of a popular friend of the café.

NASHUA


Cooking Matters, located on Main Street,Β closed its doors this monthΒ after 10 years in business.

Meanwhile, Ronnie's Country Kitchen Diner, which is located on Temple Street,Β opened its doors to breakfast- and lunch-goersΒ earlier this month.

CONCORD

The Draft, a downtown Concord institution,Β recently added 15 new 70-inch television screensΒ to make those World Series andΒ Sunday football game experiences that much more enjoyable.
