VIDEO: Exeter Resident Wins 'Seacoast Idol'

It was the largest event to date.

Exeter's Kat Murphy was named this year's "Seacoast Idol" during the annual competition over the weekend.

Murphy sang Queen Latifah's "I Know Where I've Been" to earn a $1,000 prize at the competititon, held at Exeter's Sunday.

There were a record 75 contestants this year. The first Seacoast Idol event was held in 2006.

Proceeds from event will benefit the Exeter Theater Company and its to revive Exeter's Ioka theater. The hope is to have future Seacoast Idol events at the Ioka when it .
