
A small alligator was caught in the Lamprey River in Newmarket last week.
Police said the alligator was likely someone's pet, according to WMUR-TV.
Authorities used a pole to captured the 2 1/2-foot-long juvenile alligator. It was transfered to Zoo Creatures, a rescue organization in Plaistow.
Alligators are not typically found in New England. Their habitat is in the southeastern part of the country.
