📰 News we're reading

• This Unassuming New Hampshire Museum Brings America's Fight For Independence Back To Life (myfamilytravels.com) — If you love local history, the American Independence Museum in downtown Exeter offers original Revolutionary-era documents, guided tours, and immersive living-history programs right in your backyard. The museum’s Dunlap Broadside of the Declaration of Independence, historic Ladd-Gilman House, Folsom Tavern, and July American Independence Festival make Exeter a regional hub for hands-on Revolutionary War experiences from May through November.

• 21-year-old woman charged after wrong-way crash with N.H. State Police cruiser (boston.com) — A wrong-way crash on Route 101 in Exeter early Sunday led to a state police cruiser being struck after a trooper deliberately blocked the oncoming vehicle to protect other drivers. A 21-year-old Dover woman was arrested on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, while her passenger also faces misdemeanor counts; all involved were evaluated and had no significant injuries.

• Public School Open Enrollment Tweaked One More Time (indepthnh.org) — State lawmakers are fine-tuning a new open enrollment plan that could shift how students move between districts, including potential new tuition relationships with the Exeter school district. The proposal would cap statewide transfers at 500 students initially, change who pays for special education and other costs, and is slated to take effect for the 2027–28 school year if approved.
