Exeter Hospital and the Massachusetts General
Hospital Cancer Center are pleased to announce an expanded collaboration. Beginning on February 1, physician leadership from the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center will be at Exeter Hospital to provide comprehensive medical oncology and hematology services for the hospital’s Center for Cancer Care.
This expanded collaboration between the two hospitals will provide world-class cancer care for Seacoast patients.
“This expanded relationship with the Mass General Cancer Center builds upon our existing relationship in radiation oncology services and is part of Exeter Hospital’s long-standing commitment to provide the Seacoast community with expert physicians and a sophisticated level of care not typically found at a community hospital,” said Mary Palmer, vice president of Home Care and Cancer Care for Exeter Hospital. “It will allow Exeter Hospital’s Center for Cancer Care to provide a more comprehensive and integrated set of clinical services where patients will have unparalleled access to nationally recognized cancer specialists, research and treatments close to home.”
Mass General Cancer Center’s hematologist/oncologist Panos Fidias, MD will provide medical leadership and care for patients at Exeter Hospital’s Center for Cancer Care.
Joining him will be Mary Campbell, APRN, an oncology nurse practitioner from the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. They will also be joined by Stefan Balan, MD.

Since 2009, radiation oncology services at Exeter’s Center for Cancer Care have been provided under the leadership of Gary Proulx, MD, a radiation oncologist with the Mass General Cancer Center, and Paul Busse, MD, PhD, the clinical director of Radiation Oncology for the Mass General Cancer Center.
Exeter Hospital’s Center for Cancer Care is accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer as a community cancer program.
