Margaritas Mexican Restaurant of Exeter Helping with Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

Portsmouth, N.H. – Nov. 26, 2012 – Margaritas Mexican Restaurant, a popular restaurant and bar with a long tradition of community fundraising, will be contributing to the Hurricane Sandy relief effort. On Thursday, Nov. 29th, all Margaritas restaurants in the New England region will host a “Noche Mexicana Fundraiser” donating 15 percent of participating guest checks to the Breezy Point Disaster Relief Fund.

Margaritas created the Noche Mexicana Fundraiser as a way to support community organizations and raise money for area causes. This is the first time the business has hosted a company-wide Noche Mexicana to benefit a single cause. But, as company President Hugo Marin points out, it’s a perfect time to do so.

“This opportunity seemed like the perfect time to show our unity and come together for a larger community in need,” said Marin. “We were fortunate enough to have been spared the brunt of the storm. We would be nowhere without our loyal customers and supportive local communities, so it is our duty to help the Breezy Point community get through this rough time.”

When Hurricane Sandy hit, Margaritas newest location in Lansdale, PA had only been open for business for one week. They immediately responded by providing relief to the local community which was hit hard with power outages following the storm. The restaurant delivered food to first responders and utility workers while residents lacking power and dealing with flood damage were invited to dine in the comfort and warmth of the restaurant without charge.

In the wake of the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, many residents of Breezy Point and other surrounding neighborhoods in Brooklyn, N.Y. are in need of relief funds and housing. Through the Noche Mexicana Fundraiser, Margaritas is estimating that between $7-10,000 will be donated in one day to help residents displaced by the hurricane.
