Clinics for Elementary through High School Age Sessions

NEWMARKET, N.H., – Seacoast Sports Clubs-Great Bay (“SCC-Great Bay”), parent company of three multigenerational health and fitness facilities in the Seacoast, is offering tennis camps from Monday, June 24, 2013 to Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the University of New Hampshire outdoor tennis courts.

Camps will be held to accommodate players new to the sport as well as experienced players. For players 10 years old and younger, SSC- Great Bay offers the Under 10 Development Tennis Camp. Considered the T-Ball of instructional tennis, the Under 10 program offers modified courts to allow the youngest players to get in the game at a scale that fits their size and strength. The kids are divided into two age groups to learn the fundamentals and strategies of full court tennis. This clinic will be offered Tuesdays and Thursday from 9:00 am- 10:00 am & 10:00-11:00 am with each clinic time being determined by age of the player.

SSC offers several junior clinics for younger players with some previous experience. The Junior Development Camp focuses on the fundamentals of footwork, stroke production, serving, and court positioning. These clinics are ideal for players who have not had previous formal instruction.   Junior Development Camp will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am- 11:00 am.

Meanwhile the Junior 301 level is geared towards improving the skills of a player that is already familiar with the fundamentals of tennis. The Junior 301 clinic takes place on Thursdays from 11:00 am- 12:30 pm. Those enrolled in this level should already have the ability to play out tennis strokes, serve and start to understand how to create points. This is a great opportunity to improve an existing skill set.

Led by Great Bay head professional Barry Carron, the Junior Academy is perfect for high school players. In this morning session, players will receive live and fed ball drills, games in addition to competitive play and a technical component.  The goal of the technical component is to point out an area for improvement and show the player how to correct it.  This camp is offered Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm.

“SCC is determined to help and encourage players of all ages,” said Anthony Sillitta, Executive Tennis Director for SSC-Great Bay.  “Whether my team and I are helping players with simple drills and competitive matches, correcting players’ mistakes or strategizing specific game-related tactics, the SCC team is sure to commit to providing the best coaching and playing environment for campers.” Adult programs are also provided during the summer with a number of different clinics offered throughout the week.  SSC offers Adult 101 for beginners, Adult Drills for those looking to work on their game, and its advanced Adult 401 & 501 clinics.
