Ann Romney Fires Up Crowd in Stratham

Ann Romney was joined on stage on Saturday afternoon by former Governor John Sununu and Senator Kelly Ayotte.

With threatening weather brewing up from the endless horizon at the Scamman Farm in Stratham, Ann Romney took center stage at the Seacoast Republican Women’s Annual Chili Festival Saturday afternoon.

With deep conviction, she told the crowd, “I can’t wait for the Republican Party to get this country back on track! Mitt is a guy you can count on! I’m getting the sense New Hampshire is starting to figure this out. He will get the economic engine going again, and I can’t wait to give him the keys to the engine.

Before Mrs. Romney’s speech, former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu spoke to the 350-plus crowd. He slammed the information given by the Democrats indicating that unemployment is dropping.

“Sure the report said that the rate dropped to 8.1% but 11.2% is actual rate. I did the math," Sununu said.

Sununu handed the microphone to U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-NH, who opened by saying, “I don’t want to wake up on Nov. 7 and find out that Barack Obama has four more years!”

Before introducing, Mrs. Romney, Ayotte ended by saying, “Get out and make the phone calls ... Let people know that there is only one team serious about preserving programs like Social Security and Medicare for future generations. The other side has been misleading the people, and, frankly, telling lies.”

Mrs. Romney’s speech was brief. She spoke about the RNC: “I was thrilled that our son Craig spoke. He’s a lot like his dad. Our whole family is campaigning.”

She told the crowd that more women are unemployed than men and therefore in deeper poverty, adding that the Obama economy has been “tough on women. This election will be about the economy, period.

I’ll say it again, Mitt is a guy you can count on! Make it happen in November!”

After Romney’s speech, the crowd seemed pleased with what she had to say.

“I can see her in the White House,” said Abby Jones of Stratham.

“She’s like one of us. I’m totally comfortable around her,” stated Gail Branson of Exeter.

Barbara Anderson said, “I’m actually sick of working to pay for everybody’s abortions and birth control which they are obviously not using right. The Romney-Ryan team will fix that!”
