Local Baseball Coach Charged with Sex Abuse

A Manchester man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault.

Robert A. Joubert, 58, of Manchester, was arrested by Concord police on June 28, and charged with four counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and sexual assault, a felony. 

Joubert runs the Seacoast Baseball Academy in York, Maine, and has instructed athletes in Portsmouth, Exeter, Stratham, Rye, Hampton and North Hampton, according to the academy's website.

According to police, law enforcement officials in York, Maine, began investigating Joubert after receiving a complaint that he “had been engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with minors” in March of this year.

The York Police Department then contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation with its findings and the feds starting working with other departments in the state. As a result of the communication, the FBI, together with Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, contacted the in May about allegations in Concord.

“Detectives from Concord PD learned that Robert Joubert has been involved in coaching youth baseball and hockey over the past 15 years,” noted Lt. of the Concord Police Department in a statement. “Concord detectives identified possible victims and learned that multiple sexual assaults had occurred in Concord between approximately 1995 and 2004.”

All of the alleged victims were males and were juveniles at the time of the assaults, according to O’Malley.

Joubert was arrested Thursday, with assistance from the New Hampshire State Police, and was arraigned in Sixth Circuit District Court.

Other departments involved in the investigation included the Manchester and Pembroke police departments.

O’Malley noted that “this is an ongoing investigation and involves multiple jurisdictions” and anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
