Why are you seeking elective office?

New Hampshire is the best place to live, work, and raise a family, I am running for re-election to the Senate because I want it to continue to be for your children and mine.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The issues of inflation and high energy costs are critical at this time. I have spent years trying to increase all cost-effective ways of supplying our energy alternatives. I have helped increase renewables from using waste pulp, to increasing our use of wind, hydro and solar. I have also tried to get larger clean natural gas pipelines into NH to utilize our resources to lower our electric and heating costs. With energy prices surging all cost-effective options must be on the table to help struggling families across our state.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have the necessary personal, professional, and political experience, and a record of delivering results for our community in the Senate. My opponent will vote in lockstep with her party, rising taxes and restricting freedoms. I will continue to work towards common sense solutions for New Hampshire.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

The drug crisis continues to be a critical issue in our state, I have voted in support of several initiatives to combat the drug crisis, without increasing taxes for NH citizens. I support a three point plan, which highlights enforcement, treatment and recovery. As a father of four children educated in New Hampshire's public schools, I understand the critical importance of education. I support empowering parents and supporting our teachers through local control and ensuring parental voices in the education of their children are respected and heard. With a father who served in WWII, I have tremendous respect for those who have served our nation. I am proud to have sponsored legislation that expand property tax deductions for veterans and I have worked to improve healthcare for veterans.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

My experience bringing people together to get things done in the Senate has led to a record of delivering results for our community. My record proves I don't just talk about developing solutions, I have spent the past several years achieving them. In particular, I am proud to have sent five hundred million dollars back from the state to our towns to help lower local property taxes and provide communities with aid for infrastructure costs associated with schools, roads, and bridges. I also bring the experience of a small business owner, so I have a unique understanding of the critical importance of small businesses in the NH economy.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

Some of the best advice I have received is, listen to learn. I prioritize listening and learning from constituents prior to legislating, to ensure I am a voice for the people in the Senate.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I am currently serving my second term as the State Senator for District 23. I am husband to a wonderful and supportive wife, and father of four children who are attending or are graduates of our public schools. I have served my local community, often as a coach, member of the Lions Club, a planning board member, and a State Representative. In the Senate, I currently serve as Vice Chair of the Judiciary and Commerce committees, and I previously served as Vice Chair of the Transportation committee.
