'Blue Hawks Fly Together'

Several memorials are up around Exeter in memory of Exeter High student Cody Brackett.

Several memorials are up around town for student Cody Brackett, who at his home this week.

Brackett was a football player on the Blue Hawks' squad. His team is playing a home game tonight at 7 p.m.

A "Blue Hawks Fly Together" sign was up at the downtown marquee today.

A wake is being held for Brackett at 4 p.m. Calling hours will be held today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, located at 14 Pine St. in Exeter.

Brackett's death has left the community grieving.

"It's devastating," said School Board Chairman Dave Miller.

In addition to playing varsity football, Brackett played baseball and loved the outdoors, according to his .

"Cody was always known for his great smile and readiness to give one of his legendary bear hugs," the obituary read.

School officials have made grief counselors available to students.

Scores of students have left remembrances of Brackett on a "R.I.P Cody" Facebook page.
