Boston Celtics and RE/MAX of New England Team Up

BOSTON (August 28, 2013) – The Boston Celtics and RE/MAX of New England gave the Barker-Jobin family of Barrington, NH a home basketball court renovation, as the winners of the RE/MAX of New England Home Court Program contest.  The Barker-Jobin family had their new home basketball court dedicated by Celtics guard Avery Bradley and Celtics legend Cedric Maxwell.  In addition, the Barker-Jobin family received a bedroom makeover as part of winning the contest.  Bradley and Maxwell also conducted a free one hour basketball clinic at the Barrington Recreation Center.

The Barker-Jobin family was selected as the winner of the RE/MAX Home Court Program among hundreds of candidates who sent in letters detailing why they were in need of a home court makeover.  The Barker-Jobin family was nominated by their mother, Amanda. The Barker-Jobin family has overcome some tremendous obstacles since their middle son Caleb’s serious health condition.  During Amanda’s pregnancy with Caleb, the family was given devastating news that their newborn had a very rare and fatal heart condition. Doctors told Amanda and Brian, her husband, that their unborn child had a slim chance of surviving and if he did survive that he would not live very long after his birth. Today, Caleb is a thriving 6-year-old boy that is very energetic and loves playing with his younger brother, and attending all his sister’s basketball games. The family enjoys watching the Celtics together, which is very important to them.

“It was great to see the Barker-Jobin family shooting around on their new court,” Bradley said.  “I’d like to congratulate them on winning the contest; it is great to reward a family that enjoys the Celtics as a family.”

The home court makeover consisted of a driveway and court resealing, a brand new basket stanchion, backboard, electronic scoreboard, ball rack and additional Celtics gear. After finishing the makeover, Bradley and Maxwell shot around with the family and neighborhood kids.
