The Children’s Museum has also partnered with Letgoyourmind and Mad Science for two other summer camps they’ll be offering. Letgoyourmind Camps, in session July 9-13 and August 6-10, are a LEGO-lover’s heaven, with kids invited to explore simple machines, gears, pulleys and motors. Students will use their imagination and knowledge in the afternoons to create castles, dragons, secret rooms, drawbridges and mystical creatures using interesting building concepts. All campers will receive T-Shirts and a DVD of their imaginative creations!
The next session is for ages 9-13 and is called ‘Robots and Stop Animation: Enter the Forbidden Forest Camp’. Here, kids will explore the magical world of wizardry through building and programming robots that will participate in the game of Quidditch. Kids will also learn about the Stop Motion Animation software and will build LEGO® background sets, characters and scenery from Harry Potter series and will create a movie. They’ll even get to take home a DVD copy of their movie!
The Mad Science Camps includes a Secret Agent Lab for ages 7- 12, where campers will decode secret messages to metal detectors and night vision. Activities will require cool spy equipment and kids will even create edible messages! Each day of camp entails a new theme such as Discover Detection, Spy Academy, Sleuths on the Scene, Funky Forensics and Science of Security.
The Super Duper Science Sampler – for ages 7- 12 – will include an exploration of the coolest branches of science. Campers will become a certified Jr. Mad Scientist and will discover cool things like how birds fly, how bugs walk on water, and what an owl eats. Owl pellets will be dissected, crazy candy concoctions will be made and sidewalk chalk in Chemistry will be created!
As a business partner with the Green Alliance, it is important to recognize the Children’s Museum of NH’s efforts to spread environmental awareness and education to children through these camps and programs offered year round. They have also been awarded LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, which makes the CMNH the only museum in NH to receive this honor due to their energy efficient and green buildings.
Some camps may already be full, so parents should call the Museum to check availability as soon as possible.
Through these wonderful camps offered by Children’s Museum of NH, kids of all ages will expand their knowledge on a variety of subjects in an environment that encourages campers to use their problem solving strategies, creativity and imagination to make their learning experience fun and unforgettable!
