New Outlook Teen Center Celebrates Courage to Care™
New Outlook Teen Center participates in Courage to Care™ finale.

New Outlook Teen Center participants were recently joined by Rick Alleva, UNH Cooperative Extension Field Specialist, for their Courage to Care™ final activity and ceremony. University of New Hampshire student interns Katie Hill and Zsofia Korom led a nine week program with 12 young people focusing on promoting empathy and civility.
The final Courage to Care™ activity encouraged youth to work together to make a difference in their school and community. Rocks painted with lessons learned by youth were gathered and dropped in a bucket together to make a "big splash." The final reading was from the Wizard of Oz about the Cowardly Lion, ending with a courageous “roar” from the group.
Courage to Care™ is a curriculum for middle school students designed to increase empathy and caring for others, and to reduce bullying and meanness. It also includes highly effective teaching methods designed to engage young adolescents in critical issues such as respect, kindness, courage, personal power, and cyber-citizenship.
