ReVision Energy Brings Carbon-Neutral Mission to NH

ReVision's new Exeter location offers greater convenience for NH customers, as well as opportunities for the local community to learn about renewable energy.

Operating near carbon-neutral is something ReVision Energy has been able to do in its Maine facilities for quite some time. The renewable energy contractors have striven since the company's inception in 2003 to help people and businesses transition to renewable energy, and have modeled this transition in their offices. The combination of gasifying wood boilers, solar hot water, and grid-tied photovoltaic systems in all of ReVision's workspaces has provided a showcase of renewable energy to educate the community, in addition to achieving an impressively minimal carbon footprint for their operations. So ReVision's recent move to Exeter, with ambitions of bringing NH its first carbon-neutral solar energy showroom, was just the next step in ReVision's proud history of working to reduce the nation's dependency on fossil fuels.

So why the move? Office manager Heather Fournier says that ReVision wanted to be more accessible to their already committed customer base in the granite state, and to make their services visible to new customers as well. Besides being more convenient for ReVision's New Hampshire friends, the Exeter office will greatly decrease the amount of fuel required to transport products to local customers, greening ReVision's services even further.

“Starting in about 2008, New Hampshire residents really began finding us on the internet as we invested in search engine optimization,” says company co-founder Phil Coupe. “Once we started landing a substantial number of projects across the border, it became obvious that we should open a branch in NH to properly respond to the demand and to eliminate the inefficiency of the long drive.”

“The Exeter office helps us expand our reach into New Hampshire,” continues Heather. “Our Maine offices were already providing people in New Hampshire with sustainable energy systems, but the Exeter office helps us be more local for them. It also helps the NH economy,” Heather notes, adding that ReVision was excited to be able to bring new green jobs to the state.

ReVision designs, installs, and services three types of high efficiency energy systems: solar hot water, solar PV, and wood and pellet gasification boilers. Prospective customers and curious community members can visit ReVision's Liberty, Portland, and now Exeter offices to see these systems in action.

"We hope that people will want to come by and see our new pellet boiler as part of their research into whether pellet makes sense for their home," says Phil, who is planning to install a pellet boiler in his Maine home in the next year or two. New Hampshire currently offers a $6,000 cash rebate to homeowners who invest in clean-burning pellet boilers.

“All our locations have different ways of approaching our carbon-neutral goal,” says Heather, who managed the just-completed installation of the new pellet boiler in the Exeter showroom. The Portland office has a wood boiler and solar hot water, and Heather deems the Liberty office a “picture perfect display” of all of ReVision's sustainable energy systems. The three offices produce much of the power they need through solar photovoltaic systems and purchase the rest from renewable sources. They even feed their boilers with waste packaging materials and sustainably harvested wood. ReVision uses small, fuel-efficient vehicles, and recycling is mandatory company-wide.

All these factors have led ReVision Energy to join the Green Alliance, a green business union and consumer's co-op that connects green consumers with local businesses who share their values. ReVision's impressive strides toward carbon-neutral operations and their commitment to reducing the nation's reliance on fossil fuels make them about as green as you can get. Plus, their tireless efforts to educate the community about renewable energy options are right in line with the Green Alliance's mission to keep people informed about matters of sustainability.

“On a per capita basis, Maine & New Hampshire are the two most oil dependent states in New England with the highest per capita CO2 emissions in the region. Our mission is to solve these energy problems in the region by helping people and businesses make the transition from finite, polluting sources of energy to clean renewable energy," says Phil.

So whether you're ready to take a step toward cleaner energy in your home, or you're just curious about the variety of renewable energy options now available, ReVision's new Exeter workshop is worth a visit. ReVision Energy's indefatigable work to help people and businesses transition away from a fossil fuel based economy towards an economy based on renewable energy is truly inspiring.
