Much has already been said nationally about this being the Year of the Woman. But what does that mean locally for Democrat Maggie Hassan and Republican Ovide Lamontagne as they battle to become the next governor of New Hampshire?
They volleyed action verbs on women's issues only a bit in their final debate Nov. 1, so we followed up afterward to ask them to elaborate on the issues and women as a potentially crucial voting bloc come Nov. 6.

Hassan is portraying Lamontagne as an extremist in his opposition to abortion. Lamontagne fired back last night, saying Hassan and Emily's List support for taxpayer-funded abortion "extreme."
"The so-called women's issues are men issues, too," Lamontagne responded in our question-and-answer session at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics.

Gender is noticeable, too, in the latest crop of campaign ads on TV. Several prominent women, including former House Speaker Donna Sytek of Salem, star in one ad for Lamontagne.
