Charter School Student a Finalist in Art Exhibition
Mia Crawford of Exeter Lauded by UMass at Dartmouth
EXETER__Mia Crawford, of Exeter, was a finalist in the Regional Emerging Young Artist’s Exhibition hosted by UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts.
The highly competitive annual high school juried exhibition recognizes the exceptional work of art students from high schools throughout New England. Mia, a senior at Great Bay Charter School in Exeter, was one of the finalists in the people’s choice awards. She was encouraged to enter her chalk pastel piece by her art teacher, Moses Strout.
“I chose that medium because I wanted something flowy and that I could move around,” she said. “What inspired this was something very personal in my mind in that it represents the relationship between a parent and a child that can be unusual and straining.”
