
Herman "Mike" Grogan, a longtime Seacoast teacher and track coach, passed away last week. He was 77.
Grogan was a track and field "coaching icon," according to his obituary. The Portsmouth High School track is named after him. He also coached track at and . He was coaching at Spaulding High School shortly before his death.
Grogan was an English teacher, teaching in Portsmouth for over 30 years.

Grogan enjoyed doing oil paintings and teaching folklore and submarine history for the University of Maine System, according to his obituary.
At the time of his death, he was living on a farm in South Berwick, Maine. His farm brought him relaxation; he enjoyed his rabbits, ducks, peacocks, pigeons, cows, pigs, and his horse, "Tom," according to his obituary,
A memorial service will be held Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. at the First Parish Federated Church in South Berwick. He will be buried in Brooks Memorial Park.
