"Cow Pool" for Meat Share at Vernon Family Farm

NEWFIELDS__Vernon Family Farm in Newfields is offering multiple options for customers to stock their freezer with local meat and meals this winter.

Bulk meat selections include a chicken box, boneless chicken breast box and protein share options such as beef or pork. The chicken box includes approximately 34 pounds of frozen chicken with cuts such as whole chicken, boneless breasts, leg quarters, wings, and drumsticks. The boneless breast box has 10 packages of retail boneless chicken breasts, which is about 11 to 12 pounds. Beef and pork are raised by PT Farm, a family owned and operated farm in North Haverhill, Mass.

“While this requires a bigger up-front cost, people have “cow-pooled” with friends or families to split a meat share,” said Nicole Vernon, who owns the farm with her husband, Jeremiah. “It’s a great way to stock your freezer with locally raised pastured meats.”

The farm launched their own Vernon Kitchen brand in 2021, with a focus on creating delicious ways for people to enjoy food raised on the farm. Frozen and ready to heat meals include two sizes of chicken pot pie, chicken soup, and their newest offering, rotisserie chicken mac n’ cheese. The farm’s own smoked rotisserie chicken is available every Friday and in the farm store while supplies last.

“We are looking forward to once again offering our most famous Vernon Kitchen product, our fried chicken and friend chicken meals regularly this summer when our live music series begins in May,” Nicole said. Vernon Kitchen is also bringing gluten free popcorn chicken meals to their customers this summer.
