Dover Woman Dies After NH Freight Train Crash

NHSP: Jacquelyn Rollins was parked in her vehicle on tracks on Knox Marsh Road in Madbury when a train struck her car and killed her.

MADBURY, NH — A New Hampshire woman lost her life this morning after being struck by a freight train in Madbury, according to New Hampshire State Police. Jacquelyn Rollins, 64, of Dover, was reportedly sitting inside her 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, which was parked across the tracks, when a freight train traveling nort struck the vehicle on the driver’s side, according to Sgt. John Hennessey of the NHSP.

“As a result of this collision, Ms. Rollins was transported via ambulance to the Wentworth Douglas Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival,” according to Hennessey.

The train operator, a man from Maine, was not injured in the crash, according to NHSP.

Knox Marsh Road remained open for the duration of the investigation into the crash, Hennessey noted, but commuter train traffic was delayed while the vehicle was removed from the tracks and the freight train could be moved.

Assisting on scene were members of the Dover, Durham, Madbury, and the University of New Hampshire Police Departments, as well as the Boston and Maine Railroad Police, Dover Fire and Rescue, the Madbury Fire Department, the Durham Fire Department, and McGregor EMS.
