East Kingston Police Chief Reid Simpson was placed leave as an investigation continues into an inmate who allegedly stole drugs from the police station and took a cruiser for a joy ride.
The incident happened in May, according to the Union Leader.
The inmate, Jarred Brisbois, allegedly took heroin and marijuana from an evidence room, the UL reported. The state Attorney General's office launched an investigation into the matter.
