Start the school year off right and do something for yourself! We offer many personal and professional development courses that begin throughout this fall semester. Whatever your interests are, you should consider a fun evening out at Exeter Adult Education! Upcoming course offerings include:

BEGINNING GUITAR - Dave Pastore
Learn the basics of how to play including treble and bass strings, tuning the guitar, note names, major & minor chords and the basic scales. Students must bring their own guitar to class.
Tuesdays, 8 weeks, beginning September 29, $90, 6:00-7:00 pm

THE BIBLE AS LITERATURE - Pastor Steve Magee
If you’ve ever wondered about the story line of the Bible, here is your chance to explore characters and themes of the most widely read book in human history with just a 1 hour time commitment. Tuesday, September 29, $5, 7:00-8:00 pm

CORAL REEF LIFE IN THE CARRIBEAN – Sherry Brandsema
Learn to identify the sea life you might see if snorkeling in the Caribbean. The presenter was a
SCUBA diver for 25 years and recorded the life on many coral reefs. View corals, invertebrates, fish, and many other curious forms of life found in these warm waters. Thursday, 1 night, October 29, $20, 6:00-8:00 pm

Gain a basic understanding of how this worldwide marketplace works. Topics include determining price/ marketability of product, fee structure, uploading photos, tracking internet traffic, interpreting feedback, monitoring your merchandise, collecting payment, shipping options, international sales, PayPal, half.com, and phishing. Students will also have the option of posting their own items for sale in a coached format. Mondays, 2 weeks, beginning November 9, $45, 6:00-8:30 pm

HISTORY OF PHOTOGRAPHY - Ted Leigh
Beginning with the Renaissance, this class will touch on the history of art, science, ideas,
communication, politics and society in Western Europe that spawned photography. Topics include: the new interest on the here and now (as opposed to the hereafter), an art that turned three dimensions into two, the rise of individualism and desire for portraits and science’s answer to that demand, evolving ways of picturing the world, and the inventions of light sensitive chemicals. Delve into the ever-expanding uses of photography as a new medium, from fine art to science. Thursdays, 10 weeks, beginning October 1, $100, 6:00-8:00 pm

INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY I & II - Marcia Dolgin
Learn how to take better pictures and make your photos look the way you want them to with
instruction from a Master Photographer and Printer. You’ll learn the fundamentals to get the most from your camera and inspiration to capture your own artistic vision. Bring your camera and the
manual, along with your curiosity and sense of humor. Tuesdays, 6 weeks, beginning September 29, $90, 6:00-9:00 pm
Level II: Students must have familiarity with using aperture, ISO and shutter speed to achieve more advanced and improved photography images. Tuesday, November 10 for 6 weeks, $90.

INTRODUCTION TO GENEALOGY- Patricia Antlitz
Genealogy from the first settlers through the Great Immigration. This class will provide an overview of doing genealogy research using ancestry.com and other online resources as well as research that is more traditional in nature. You will also be guided as you do research on your individual family tree. Membership in ancestry.com will maximize your experience, so it is encouraged but not mandatory. Mondays, 3 weeks, beginning October 19, $65, 6:00-8:30pm

READING AND UNDERSTANDING THE NEW TESTAMENT – Pastor Steve Magee
This reading and discussion course will explore literary issues that need to be addressed in order to understand the New Testament. The classes will focus on the following books: Matthew, John, Acts, Romans, First and Second Thessalonians, James, First and Second Peter and Revelation. Other ancient religious texts will be compared with the various biblical books that will be the focus. Tuesdays, 10 weeks, beginning October 6, $25, 7:00-8:00 pm

STARTING & RUNNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS – Lisa Farrell
Are you looking to start your own business or already in business and simply need to find a strategy to move it forward? This informative and interactive class will give you basics to increase your
opportunity for success. Thursdays, 4 weeks, beginning October 8, $50, 6:00-8:00 pm

UNDERSTANDING CHOICES FOR SOCIAL SECURITY- Bonnie Staniewicz, CFP®, CDFA Financial Advisor - See how and why Social Security is much more than simply determining whether to file before, at, or after your full retirement age.
