An affordable housing complex in Exeter is set for a $500,000 boost.
The Meeting Place on Epping Road was awarded the money from the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority in the form of a Community Development Block Grant.
The grant, which is subject to approval by the Executive Council, will help Avesta Housing build an additional 39 units at The Meeting Place. When complete, the complex will have a total of 122 units.
The grant was part of $1.84 million awarded to similar projects across the state.
"These are grassroots projects that our cities and towns say are priorities for them," said CDFA Communications Director Kevin Flynn. "The CDBG program is there to meet those municipal needs, benefit low- and moderate-income people, and reduce the burden on local taxpayers."
Some of the units at The Meeting Place are designated for seniors aged 62 and older.
