Exeter Area YMCA is Now Open

The ribbon cutting for the new facility was held on Sept. 11, 2015.

The Exeter Area YMCA opened yesterday with many supporters, members, volunteers and donors in attendance for a ribbon cutting ceremony, according to a press statement.

The opening of the Exeter Area YMCA marks a major expansion of Southern District YMCA programs and services to the people of all ages in the community – while continuing to provide youth programming at YMCA Camp Lincoln and YMCA School Age Child Care.

According to Cindy Dominguez, Southern District YMCA Board Chairwoman, the vision for the new Y is to “to create a healthy and vibrant place for people of all ages to connect. Research shows that, beyond a shadow of doubt, that positive social relationships extend and improve quality of life. At the Y, we will all become stronger.”

Nick Drinker, a volunteer, used one word to describe the new Y: “Wow!”

He continued, “The YMCA is about bringing community together, bringing families together for generations to come.

Craig Jewett, President of Jewett Construction Co., Inc, added, “If there’s one thing you should really know about this project, it’s this: every single dollar was maximized. No matter if you donated $1M or $1, you dollar was stretched as far as it could.”

Regular operating hours at the Exeter Area YMCA begin on Sunday, Sept. 13. The Exeter Area YMCA is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
