The Exeter High School football team, which the Division 1 state championship last season, opened this season ranked first in the state.
Exeter beat Dover 42-7 in its season opener Friday, solidifying its top spot in the statewide rankings determined by the New Hamsphire Union Leader, WGIR-AM radiom annd WMUR-TV.
Exeter was 9-1 last year, during which it won its first Divison 1 championship in over Pinkerton Academy.
