Exeter Holding First-Ever Holiday Pet Parade

It will be held Sun., Dec. 8.

Exeter's "Ring in the Season"  is a four-day celebration in early December to kick off the holidays.

A new event this year is a pet parade that will be held Sun., Dec. 8. Here's more information about the parade:

"It’s about time your four-legged friends get to enjoy the holiday action. Bring your pooches in their favorite holiday outfit and enjoy the fun.

There will be two starts to the pooch parade to help with congestion on the sidewalks. We are recommending that larger dogs meet on Center Street and smaller dogs meet on Lincoln Street both at 11:00AM. Certainly, if you are a family with many pooch sizes, choose the location that is best for your family.

If you are starting at the Center Street location, the walk will head out Center, right on to Front Street, right on to Lincoln Street, right on to Main Street, straight on to Water Street and right on to Front Street. This route provides the most safety for the dogs and their handlers. Please remember to bring doggie bags, we will have spares just in case. Watering Stations will be on Lincoln Street, the intersections of Center Street (both at Front and Water) and also at Town Hall.

Prizes will be awarded in three categories: Best individual pooch, Best group of pooches and Best combo (pooch and handler). There will be two prizes per group. The prizes are being donated by The Pet Pantry, www.petpantryprovisions.com.

The State K9 Unit will be in attendance to provide a demo at noon time. The announcing of the costume winners will be at 12:30 outside of the Exeter Town Hall. After the walk, you are encouraged to stop by The Pet Pantry at 78 Lincoln Street as they celebrate the grand opening of their new, larger location."
