Exeter Hospital Joins Reuse Effort
Its extra medical material will be reused responsibly.

Exeter Hospital is pleased to announce it has joined IMEC Global Green, a medical surplus recovery program that enables U.S.-based hospitals and health care providers to make responsible use of their medical surplus.
Exeter Hospital has been a supporter of IMEC since 1995 and is furthering its commitment to the organization and its mission through participation in the Global Green Program.

“Exeter Hospital is constantly looking for opportunities to reduce our environmental footprint and this program allows us to reduce both our waste stream and improve global health in developing countries around the world,” said Jacqueline O’Brien, Director of Material Management for Exeter Hospital. “Surplus medical equipment and supplies can be used to transform impoverished hospitals and clinics in developing countries around the world.”
Exeter Hospital has implemented a number of green initiatives including single stream recycling, universal waste procedures, a Biosharps Program, and a community sharps disposal service. The local hospital continues to take part in energy star reviews to reduce its overall energy consumption.

IMEC, a leading international humanitarian organization that has upgraded impoverished hospitals and clinics in over 80 countries since 1995, is proud to partner with Exeter Hospital and to support its commitment to the planet and dedication to serving those in need.
“Exeter Hospital has been an exceptional donor of surplus equipment and supplies to IMEC for over 15 years,” said Melissa Keefe, Director of Strategic Collaboration for IMEC. “Our partnership has enabled materials that are in good condition, but no longer needed to be repurposed and distributed to impoverished hospitals and clinics in underserved communities around the world. Exeter Hospital's commitment to donating quality materials to those that we serve is exemplary, and we are grateful for their long term and continued support."
