Exeter LitFest Postponed Indefinitely

EXETER__The second Annual Exeter LitFest, originally planned for April 3 and 4, has been postponed indefinitely owing to the developing COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are disappointed that this year’s festival won’t happen but given the quickly evolving COVID-19 situation both locally and globally, our board of directors unanimously voted to cancel the event,” Board Chair Renay Allen-Hitzrot said. “The good news is that we have a good jump start on planning for next year’s Exeter LitFest thanks to the countless hours of organizing that has already taken place this year.”

The Exeter LitFest Board began discussions on March 9 about the viability of this year’s festival and sought out input from Exeter’s town officials and health department. Board members began work to transition to a virtual event but have since decided that because of recommendations for social distancing to cancel the entire event this year.

“This is an unprecedented, and unsettling time for many of us, as we work to socially distance and find creative ways to pass the time,” Allen-Hitzrot said. “Walking outside is something we can do, and our Exeter LitFest walking tour is already uploaded to our website for those who would like to explore spots in town that are significant to local literature.”

The Exeter Lit Fest’s mission is “To leverage our wealth of local literary treasure, in an environmentally sustainable way, to connect both residents and tourists to the diverse literary voices and places of greater Exeter, NH for the benefit of children and adults, the local arts community, and local businesses.”
