Exeter Music Sensation Performing Locally

Exeter High's Aubrey Harris, who recently played with Keith Urban, will perform locally next month.

Exeter High School student Aubrey Harris, who recently played with Keith Urban on a national stage, will perform in North Hampton next month.

Harris, a 15-year-old sophomore, will perform during a "Showcase of Winners Concert" at the Seacoast Academy of Music on Wed., Jan. 2 at 6:30 p.m. Five other young musicians from New England will perform. Admission is a suggested $10 donation.

Harris plays bass. Earlier this month she played with Urban at the American Country Awards. A YouTube clip can be found at right.

Other musicians scheduled to perform Jan. 2 include:

  • Kevin Chen, an 8th-grade winner of the Boston Steinway Competition, will play the Hungarian Rhapsody No 11 by Liszt
  • College students Derrick Cheng and Mike Hanson will talk about their nationally acclaimed "Measures for the Future," a non-profit organization which brings music performances and instruction into inner-city schools 
  • Cindy Sun, a 14-year-old winner of the New Hampshire Music Teachers Association Competition, will play Chopin, Scherzo Op. 31 No. 2  
  • Composer Meghan Ham will perform her original composition for piano
