Exeter Parents Group Honored For Engagement Work
Parents Partnering in Transition praised for creating better ways to communicate at the high school.

CONCORD, NH – Two parent leaders were awarded this week for their work promoting a strong collaboration between parents, schools, healthcare, and communities. At the Oct. 18, 2018, event, held at the New Hampshire Audubon McLane Center, Bevery Hodson and Amy Ferris of Parents Partnering in Transition of Exeter were celebrated by the Parent Information Center of NH and NH Family Voices as part of the orgs’ 10th annual Family Engagement Recognition Ceremony. The PIC NH accepted nominations for individuals and teams across the state that showed creativity, innovation, and commitment at the school, district, or state level, based on NH Family-School-Community Partnership Standards (welcoming families, promotion of communication, support for student success, and other values).
Hodson and Ferris were nominated by Rosalyn Moriarty of Exeter High School for their work bringing parents and school staffers together to share resources, feedback, ideas, medical advice, and experiences, in an effort to improve communication between all involved.
Frank Edelblut, the commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Education, as well as Christine Santaniello, the director of the Division of Long Term Supports and Services at the NH DHHS, both spoke at the event.
