
Leaping Lizards! Look to the Library – a multitude of activities will be offered at the Exeter Public Library this summer during our Children’s Summer Reading Program, “Every Hero Has a Story”. Sign-up begins the week of June 29th and are ongoing throughout the 6-week programs. Ours’ is a flexible, fun-filled reading program geared to children age 3 and older available to Exeter residents and members of the library. Participants set their own weekly reading goals. Read and win a prize!
Bust-a-Book@theMovies is a summer reading program available to children currently entering 4th, 5th or 6th grade. A movie, based on a children’s book, will be shown. Copies of each book that coincide with the movie will be available to read prior to watching the show. Which do you think you will prefer…the book or the movie? DVDs will be shown Friday’s at 1:00 p.m. Join us for popcorn, prizes and a movie!
Our Special Events are held on Wednesday’s at 1:00 p.m. To Kick Off our summer special events: on July 8th,magician Norman Ng will perform his magic show, “That’s Far From the Norm”. On July 15th, Jim Parks from Wingmasters will bring animal ambassadors representing North American Birds of Prey. Our 22nd annual Stuffed Pet Show will be held on July 22nd. To coincide with the summer reading theme, perhaps your favorite stuffed pet can visit the library in a hero costume. On July 29th, 2 sessions of Ceramic Painting will be available at 12:30 and 2:15 p.m. This program is for children ages 5 and up and the only program that requires pre-registration. The Museum of Science will present, “Super-Cold Science” on August 5th. For our grand finale, on August 12th renowned comic mime Robert Rivist will lead the audience on a fun journey of everyday heroes, super heroes and heroes from Greek mythology and popular books. We hope all our readers and future readers will come and enjoy these shows.

Activities will be available daily. “Open Art”, a weekly craft project designed for adults and children to complete together, will be available on Monday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All materials and directions will be supplied. Come and Create! “Story Time”, for children 3 and older, will be available on Tuesday and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. No registration required during the summer, just drop in and listen! These programs are open to Exeter residents and members of the library. Zoom into the library to enjoy all our activities, and plan to check out books, too!
