Exeter's Carpenter Starts World Series Opener Tonight

Carpenter was born in Exeter in 1975.

Exeter native Chris Carpenter will take the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals tonight in Game 1 of the World Series. The team is taking on the Texas Rangers.

The 36-year-old Carpenter, who was born in Exeter, is going for his second World Series title. In 2006, he won a title with the Cardinals.

Carpenter attended Trinity High School in Manchester.

The game will be televised on Fox at 8:05 p.m. Locally, it will be shown on Comcast channels 16 and 806.

Carpenter faces a tough challenge against the Rangers, who have one of the best lineups in the league.
