Exeter's Food/Health Forum Continues Tonight
A Maine farmer fighting genetic modification will be in town.

A Maine farmer fighting to keep food crops free of genetic modification will speak in Exeter tonight.
Jim Gerritsen has operated Wood Prairie Farm in northern Maine for over 35 years.
He will speak the Food and Health Forum series at 6:30 p.m. at the Blue Moon restaurant in Exeter.

The series was started by Blue Moon owner Kathy Gallant and local nutrionist/health coach Tracey Miller. Exeter Patch recently .
Gerritsen is president of the Organic Seed Growers and Trade Association. He has been recognized for his work spearheading a lawsuit against corporate agriculture giant Monsanto on behalf of 270,000 family farmers, gardeners, and consumers who are suing to keep some food crops free of genetic modification.

The Food and Health Forum series was started by Blue Moon founer Kathy Gallant and local nutritionist and health coach Tracey Miller. The first event of the series last month and drew more than 100 attendees.
They pair started it to inspire and educate communities to help reestablish the link between what people eat, where their food comes from, and how it affects their health.

- March 19: Pete Johnson, Owner, Pete’s Greens, runs a four season organic vegetable farm supporting communities in north and central Vermont.
- April 23: Amy Cotler, Chef, Author, The Locavore Way, How to Discover and Enjoy the Pleasure of Locally Grown Food.
- May 21: Ben Hewitt, farmer and author of The Town That Food Saved and Making Supper Safe, One Man’s Quest to Learn the Truth About Food Safety.
