Exeter Snow Removal Budget Hit with $62K Overage
Town Manager Russ Dean blamed it on a series of late-December storms.

A series of snowstorms in recent weeks has strained the town's snow removal budget.
In 2013, the town budgeted $278,310 for snow removal. It actually spent $339,891—mostly due to a series of storms in late December, according to Town Manager Russ Dean.
The $62,000 overage would be taken out of the surplus account, which Dean said looks to be about $600,000 for 2013.
So far in 2014, the town has spent about $15,000 on snow removal, mostly on a storm earlier this month that dropped over a foot of snow on town. The 2014 snow removal budget is $267,070.
"This year is a wild card," Dean said. "I'm not concerned yet but I certainly reserve my right (to be)."
Other local communities have reported going over their snow removal budgets because of the recent spate of storms.
