Exeter Swim and Racquet Club Awarded Platform Tennis Grant

American Platform Tennis Association awards Exeter Swim and Racquet Club with Grant

Exeter Swim & Racquet Club has been awarded both a grant and a loan through the APTA “Grow the Sport Program” in order to assist in building two platform (paddle) tennis courts at the club in 2016! The courts will provide a year-round avenue for racquet sports and will allow the club to hold leagues and events with our members and other paddle tennis clubs.

Shannon Vison, APTA Committee Member wrote in the award letter that it is a “very exciting time in Exeter and your efforts to make this dream a reality are truly something to be admired. Many thanks on behalf of the APTA for your time, energy and dedication to platform tennis and, specifically, the city of Exeter. We, and they, are lucky to have you in our sport.”

According to the APTA website, Platform Tennis is an American racquet sport enjoyed by thousands of people of all ages. It is the only racquet sport that players can enjoy outdoors in cold weather. This unique appeal attracts people who desire fresh air, competition, and social engagement - all on a chilly winter’s day or night. The sport is played at private clubs, public facilities, and in backyards at both highly competitive and purely recreational levels. Also, because it is easy to learn, it is enjoyed by players of all ages!
