Former Philips Exeter Teacher Indicted On More Sexual Assault Charges

Plus: Derry, Hampstead, and Strafford men indicted on gun charges; Salem men indicted on drug charges; Deerfield man faces theft charge.

BRENTWOOD, NH — The following people were indicted recently in Rockingham County Superior Court.

Jerzy Kaminski Szczesny, 61, of Garden Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and two counts of tampering with witnesses and informants, all felonies. While a teacher at Philips Exeter Academy, he was accused of using his position of authority to sexually assault a student repeatedly between Sept. 11, 2015, and June 15, 2016. In March 2020, he was accused of attempting to induce the victim to withhold testimony and information about the case in Exeter. Szczesny was previously indicted on sexual assault and aggravated felonious sexual assault charges and backed out of a plea deal in February.

Jason Allen LeBlanc, 42, of Pleasant Hill Road in Deerfield on a felony theft by deception charge. He was accused of committing fraud by selling a four-wheeler online between Dec. 31, 2021, and Jan. 3 in Deerfield. Twice before, according to the indictment, he was convicted on theft charges.

Thomas D. Long, 56, of Hillside Avenue in Derry on a felony felon in possession of a firearm charge. He was accused of being in possession of a gun between March 23, and March 28 in Derry.

Justin Daniel Maclean, 37, of Oakridge Avenue in Salem on felony burglary, simple assault-domestic violence, and stalking-domestic violence charges. He was accused of burglarizing an apartment on Oakridge Avenue in Salem on Oct. 3, 2021, and pushing an intimate partner onto a couch while there was an active protective order.

Ronald A. MacDonald, 50, of Tewksbury Road in Hampstead on a felony criminal threatening-deadly weapon charge. He was accused of pointing a firearm at another person in Derry on Jan. 28.

Jay Paul Medeiros, 44, of Kidder Brook Road in Ashford, Connecticut, on negligent homicide and reckless conduct charges, both felonies. He was accused of crashing into a police cruiser on Oct. 28, 2021, on Interstate 95 in Portsmouth and causing the death of State Trooper Jesse Sherrill while high on marijuana.

Andrew James Melvin, 40, of Prospect Street in Manchester on a felony operating while certified as a habitual offender charge. He was accused of driving on Portsmouth Avenue in Exeter on Jan. 14 after being deemed a habitual offender by the NH DMV.

Joel Richard Messina, 54, of Brook Road in Salem on two felony possession of crack cocaine charges on Jan. 18, and Jan. 25, in Salem.

John Monteiro, 63, of Water Street in Strafford on a felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon charge. He was accused of firing a shot from a gun on Warner Hill Road in Derry that struck another home nearby with residents inside on July 1, 2021.

Stephen A. Mudge Jr., 51, of Providence Hill Road in Salem on a felony possession of fentanyl and tramadol mix charge on Oct. 20, 2020, in Salem.

Michael Christopher Obuchon, 47, of Chapman Street in Newington, CT, on a felony aggravated driving while intoxicated charge. He was accused of driving while intoxicated on Mammoth Road in Londonderry on Nov. 11, 2021, causing a motor vehicle collision with serious bodily injury.
