Exploring the Northeast's History of Race Relations
Join UNH historian Jason Sokol and Phelps Minister on Jan. 13, at Phillips Exeter Academy Rev. Robert Thompson in discussion.

Upcoming lecture in a series featuring topics at the intersection of current events, ethics, and religion
Topic: Exploring the Northeast’s History of Race Relations
The Northeast prides itself on a long history of racial equality and tolerance, dating back to the Abolitionist movement. Yet as UNH historian Jason Sokol makes clear in his new book, All Eyes Are Upon Us: Race and Politics From Boston to Brooklyn, the region sometimes falls well short of its ideals. Sokol and the Rev. Robert Thompson, Phelps Minister at Phillips Exeter Academy, will explore our recent racial history, and consider factors that contribute to racial tensions around the country, including patterns of discrimination in policing and the criminal justice system.
