Gandolfo's NY Delicatessen in Exeter has closed its doors.
The eatery, located at 48 Portsmouth Ave. next to Walgreens, closed March 2, according to a note taped to the door.
"Along with our lease ending, the economy has gotten the best of us," the note reads. "We want to thank you for your business and tell you how much we have enjoyed having you as a patron."

Attempts to reach ownership were unsuccessful Wednesday.
Gandolfo's is a chain that operates a few dozen locations across the country. The Exeter location was the only one in New England.

The New York-style menu includes Reuben sandwiches, hot dogs, and breakfast sandwiches, among other offerings.
Wicked Fun Art next to Gandolfo's in Exeter is also currently vacant after that store closed its doors.
Other Exeter restaurants that have closed in recent years include Friendly's and Renata World Bistro. A new Mexican restaurant is slated to go in at the Friendly's location, while Good Karma Cafereplaced Renata World Bistro.
