From the Ground Up Podiatry Welcomes Dr. Dennis Claire

STRATHAM__From the Ground Up Podiatry is pleased to welcome Dr. Dennis Claire to their practice within Barefoot Medical Spa in Stratham.

Dr. Claire, an avid athlete who takes part in backcountry skiing and endurance events, has a special interest in pediatric podiatry, sports injuries, and rehabilitating from injuries of the foot. He received his doctorate in podiatric medicine from Barry University and earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, New York. He is certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and a member of the International Institute of Race Medicine.

“With my bachelor’s degree in Biology, I have always looked at life through the lens of evolution and ecology,” he said. “Spending as much of my life as possible outside, and with backgrounds in teaching and coaching, podiatry became an attractive career to combine science, the outdoors and endurance sport through the appendage that connects us to our environment.”

Dr. Claire’s father was both an English professor and traditional Irish storyteller, which he credits with his approach to listening to his patients today. “My unique background has enabled the development of skills that require experience and patience,” he said. “With this background, I particularly enjoy treating foot emergencies and tending to athletes and children.”

When he’s not at work, Dr. Claire is usually outside training for the next endurance challenge or enjoying time with his wife and two sons. He is a volunteer with the Oyster River Track and Field as well as the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias (NFED), Ski the Whites and Bikes not Bombs. He is a member of Crow Athletics, American Alpine Club, USA Cycling, Coös Trails, Granite Backcountry, Protect our Winters (POW).
