"We have a whole new set of victims who are now being tested," said former State Rep. Elenore Casey Crane, one of the group's founders. Dr. Raymond Chung, chief of hepatology and vice chief of gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital, will provide an update on a new treatment for hepatitis C patients that has shown a 75 percent cure rate in clinical trials.
Crane said her group has also been working to develop a possible legal solution that would allow patients to be compensated immediately instead of having to go through the court system. The model being used is similar to the one used by the families of victims of 9/11.
