Help the Ioka Reach Fundraising Goal

It's looking for 1,000 donors.

A group that's trying to revive the Ioka is looking to sign up at least 1,000 donors to help out.

The Exeter Theater Company set a goal of getting 1,000 people to join the donor program. People who donate money may get in return their names on a wall in the lobby, theater seats, and plaques. More information can be found on the group's website.

The group, run by several community leaders, is working with Kensington philanthropist Alan Lewis, who at an auction earlier this month with the intention of returning it to its roots as a community theater.

The company says it wants to renovate the Ioka in an Art Deco fashion, preserving its historic features while getting it up code regarding safety standards.
